You have all been such busy bees- as have Nicky and I getting everything prepared- but it has truly been a fantastic year everyone and the work you have put in is immense. Next year is sure to be even bigger and better as we continue with even more exhibitions and public performances, just watch this space.

Be sure to keep an eye on the class timetable page as class times are likely to change slightly in September to allow for school closing times as some our our younger students move from Senior Infants into 1st class and many of you will be heading to Secondary School in September- where have the last 7 years gone???

Show tickets will be on sale very soon in class so be sure to get them quickly as we all know how fast they sell out. Looking forward to another fantastic performance from you all in only 4 1/2 weeks!

We will be starting back with a bang, with all classes resuming and hopefully a few new ones also. The new class timetable is available online now. Please take a moment to look over it as minor changes have been made to a few classes ie 15 mins here or there.

As always we will be offering our Modern Theatre classes which focus on the ISTD examination syllabi and also free jazz work. Examinations as always are optional, however candidates will be picked to go forward for exams only if and when they are ready. Regardless of whether students take exams or not this work is necessary to develop technique and produce well rounded versatile dancers. More info on exams will follow in the newsletter and throughout the terms.

Our End of Year Show ” Life is a Circus” was once again a huge hit and I was so proud of everyone on their performances and backstage conduct. You are a credit to your families! As this year saw our largest number of students partake in the performance it was apparent that shows may need to be changed a little in the future should our numbers sustain (fingers crossed!) in order to give the younger students an easier time. That said, we are instead looking at holding a junior showcase and a separate senior showcase. This will take a lot of pressure off the younger students and hopefully make it easier for parents, family and friends to get children to and from performances without wearing them out. Further details of the end of year show will of course follow in the coming months.

As usual, teen and adult Zumba classes will be running in Laragh on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm. Feel free to come down and join at any time. Classes are €8 or €7 if you have a child in the school.

PRE-REGISTRATION

As we have a number of classes in Laragh that run into each other consecutively throughout the day, we will be holding a pre-registration day on Wed Sept 14th for all to come along and get the registration process underway prior to the start of class. This is to cut out the busy period at the start of each class when registration forms and fees are being completed while the children have to wait for their class to begin. It also gives Kate more time to speak directly to parents and answer any questions you may have in a calmer atmosphere.

Everyone already enrolled in EDS holds preferential places in the class up until midnight of the 14th. It is in all our best interests to enroll on the 14th to allow the first day back to class to run smoothly and settle the children back into the task at hand.

One hundred and twenty- five children will perform on the stage this weekend in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh, dancing and acting their way through the evening to bring audiences a taste of the circus, with colorful costumes, rousing music and boundless amounts of energy! Also available at the show are DVD order forms of the show and Summer Camp enrollment forms for the Laragh Camp from July 18th- 22nd. Further details of the camp to follow on this page.

Tickets are available at classes but you must hurry, they sell out quickly and once they are gone, well let’s just say they do a Houdini!

We hope you enjoy the shows and yet another year of our works culmination. The students have progressed even more since last year and I can’t wait fro you all to see their development.

This year we have changed the format of the fund raiser and are doing a Family Fun Day and Sponsored Dance-a-Thon. This is set to be a fun day for all the family with activities, contests and great prizes for all the family!

Students will have a Dance-a-Thon sponsorship card to collect sponsorship money for competing in the dance-a-thon.

The funds we raise this year will go towards:

• An Exam Fund to help reduce ISTD examination fees
• End of Year Show costs including: coaches, lighting, costumes, staging
• Subsidised Workshops: to help reduce the costs of Special Guest Teacher Workshops.

Please help us to make this the best Family Fun Day Wicklow has seen! Don’t forget to invite your friends as everyone is welcome to attend the day!

The classes are based in Brockagh Centre, Laragh, Co Wicklow and start at 7pm every Wednesday.

Elevation Dance School is thrilled to be affiliated with The Brennan School of Theatre Arts in Arklow. Through our combined efforts, experience on the world stage and professional qualifications we can deliver the very best in performance technique and exam opportunities. Students of EDS may also take class with BSTA to receive a well rounded professional performance package of dancing, singing and acting.

We have classes in Monamolin and Arklow onTuesday, Laragh on Wednesday and Aughrim on Thursday.

We are also introducing a new adults Dance Fitness class fromm 7pm until 8pm on Wednesday in Laragh!

Also, if you  have dance wear that no longer fits, simply bring it to class and tell Kate how much you are selling the item for and she will add it to the dance wear rack and reimburse the money upon the sale of the item.
